Dick Tracy

I loved this movie when I was a kid. It's been awhile, but I remember it being pretty cool. I never read any of the strips but Dick Tracy was the first thing I thought of for pulp.

Strange

I'm not sure if Adam Strange would be considered pulp, but I wanted to draw him so here you go.

Doc Fate

Based on Grant Morrison's idea of combining Doctor Fate with Doc Savage for one of DC's multiple earths. I tried making this piece reminiscent of the Doc Savage book covers.

Bronzium Haze

Well, this didn't turn out quite how I wanted... oh well, next week eh?

Flash for Freedom!

This was a tough one since I've never read many pulp stories, even though I think I'd be a big fan. I remember after seeing Frazetta's "Flash for Freedom" painting and loving it, I searched the name and found out there are a series of novels about this guy, Flashman. They are described as historical and pulpy. I guess he gets into a lot of crazy situations. I've wanted to read them since finding out about them, but haven't gotten around to it. So anyways, this is my pulp entry. Sorry for the not so great drawing. It was a rough week of work and going back and forth between here and New Jersey. Next weeks will be extra good!

The Shadow

this was a better idea than it was executed. but i do love the shadow. just a quickie.

Robert E. Howard

It was a toss up between Howard and Lovecraft this week. Guess who won?

The Rocketeer

I drew this thing at full 11x17 and it was a lot of fun.  I hadn't drawn anything that big in a long time.

Sailor Steve Costigan and Mike

Steve Costigan is my absolute favorite Robert E. Howard character and it's a bummer that he doesn't get the same attention as the others. The stories are funny, odd, brutal (sometimes) and totally lovable.
Oh, and I followed the original description as opposed to the blonde, striped shirt guy he's now depicted as.

Parker

Richard Stark's Parker character. Big fan of the Darwyn Cooke adaptations.

Batman And Robin

Late I know, but on the other hand Bridesmaids is a really funny movie.  As many times as I've drawn Batman, I don't think I'd ever drawn Robin so this was fun.

The Professionals

Mathilda and Leon.

X Duo

I love Megaman X so I thought I would do a little tribute sorta piece to Megaman X & Zero. This is something a little different for me! :)

Heroes for Hire

I don't think they hang out much anymore, but Power Man and Iron Fist made quite the duo back in the day.

Be Excellent To Each Other...

The Wyld Stallyns, Bill and Ted. Stuck with just pencils this week. I've always wanted to push my work in a looser direction, more cartoon-y, less tight and detailed, but I don't experiment nearly enough with that approach, so here I decided to do just that. Hope everyone digs, and remember "Wyld Stallyns rule!"

Kurt Russell & John Carpenter

Really good creative duo. I don;t think they've made a bad movie together. Made some of my favorite movies of all time.

Robin Hood & Lil John

Robin Hood and Little John walking through the forest
Laughing back and forth at what the other has to say
Reminiscing this and that and having such a good time
Oo-De-Lally, Oo-De-Lally, Golly, what a day
Never ever thinking there was danger in the water
They were drinking they just guzzled it down
Never dreaming that a scheming sheriff and his posse
Was a watching them and gathering around
Robin Hood and Little John running through the forest
Jumping fences, dodging trees and trying to get away
Contemplating nothing but escape and finally making it
Oo-De-Lally, Oo-De-Lally, Golly, what a day
Oo-De-Lally, Oo-De-Lally, Golly, what a day

Dong Brothers

Nobody's going to get this.

Hell in the Pacific

What a great category for my first chance on Omega Sketch! I had a million ideas running through my head, there are so many great duos. I decided to skip all my automatic ones and go for something a little more obscure. "Hell in the Pacific" is a great movie Mooneyham introduced me to last year. I'm a big fan of older movies, 60's and 70's especially, so Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune are some of my favorite actors. This movie is cool because Marvin and Mifune are the only people in the whole thing, very dramatic. Anyways, I thought they did a great job, they are such a contrasting duo that I thought it'd be fun to draw them. If you haven't seen the movie yet, check it out!

Kirk and Spock

Captain Kirk needs help climbing a mountain... and who better to help him than that pointy-eared bastard, Mr. Spock!  Inspired by Troy Hoover's texture assignment for Joe Kubert.

Two-Face

I want a Two-Face comic that plays out much like The Odd Couple.

Childhood heroes in a halfshell

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That is all.

Kenny F***ing Powers

When I was young I looked up to many sports players. If I were a kid today, I would DEFINITELY be a huge fan of Kenny Powers from TV's "Eastbound and Down".

Child Heroes

I was expecting a lot more people to do pics of like their parents or firefighters and stuff like that. I was trying so hard to think about who i looked up to when I was kid besides my parents and all I could think of was running around the house in pajamas with plastic weapons and sticks or magic marker sideburns on my face. My mom actually made me a bitching batman cape after i sliced up the bottom of one of her 'good' bathroom towels when i tried to make it look like the Dark Knights cape. I also use to run around with a pillow safety pinned to the back of my shirt and tighty-whiteys on my head when i was pretending to be the Rocketeer. Well, that's that i guess.

Wolverine

X-Men the animated series was da bomb when I was but a child.
I was going to do an awesome background but I messed up.  So... you get a bunch of black!

-Bush Printzle

BlizzardMirage

Ninjas are the first thing that come to mind when I think of anything awesome. And it was the same thing in preschool, Storm Shadow was my boy! God I love the 80's. I sort of winged it with the colors, started out with a totally different color scheme, then I went nuts.

Watterson

I wouldn't say Bill Watterson was a "hero" to me per-say, but I loved Calvin and Hobbes, and he was a massive influence in bringing me to where I am in my life. Interesting note: I knew he was a recluse, but there are only 2 images of Watterson available online and they are both from the 80's.

Superman

I was originally going to draw the Green Power Ranger but I just could not figure out a cool way to draw him.  That helmet looks silly from every freakin' angle and as Tuesday grew closer I decided to just do a Superman drawing instead.  He was always my favorite as a kid anyway.

Dredd

John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra would I guess be my childhood heroes. They created Dredd, which was the first ever comic I read and character I wanted to draw. One of my favorite characters.
Kindof drew it in a different style than normal. Carlos has a really 'liney' style, so i added a bit of that to it.
As always, fun to draw.

Bat-Mite

A bit of a triple whammy for me. Like all of us, I was obsessed with the Burton Batman film and one of the greatest heartbreaks of my life was my brother explaining Batman wasn't real. Second, the first girl to let me stick things in her head bought me The Dark Knight Returns (Tenth Anniversary Edition) for my 13th birthday and it is still one of my all-time favorite books. Lastly, for some reason my idiot five year old is madly in love with Bat-Mite, so, he's kind of her childhood hero right now.
END.

President R. Skull

this is my sort of humorous response to the Captain America pieces...Red Skull is President now bitches! couldn't think of an epic, clever political cartoon, so yeah...i wanted a sort of "hello kitty" feel with the colors

Before my eyes...

I tried something a little different on this one. Some of it worked and some of it didn't. I was going for a real lose style to capture the insanity of the Riots in Egypt.

Star Wars

Well, here's Vader. This looked so cool in my head and then I got swamped with work and had to really rush this to get it done. I apologize for the poor quality of the drawing and upload. I'll do better next time. Sorry Darth :(

Apocalypse Now

Oh Brando,  could you prepare less for a film?

Turf War

Everything I know about street gangs, I learned from West Side Story.

Politics, yeah!

Ok, straight off I want to point out that I've been crazy sick the last few days along with my wife, we contracted what can only be described as "kinda like the undead plague, except without all the dying and eating brains and stuff". But I haven't done any work since last week, except for this 'beaut I got for ya right here. Sorry for the "Wall of Integrity" quality piece.

Secondly: No, I do not think that anti-war protesters should be shot by a terrible, dwarf-proportioned Ghaddafi, who bears little likeness to his full size counterpart. Instead, the idea I offer here is, in all seriousness, my response to the idea that some activists have that peaceful protest can succeed against a maniacal leader willing to use violence to secure his seat in power. I believe what happened in Egypt was awesome, but once protests started in Libya, shit hit the fan and war broke out between Ghaddafi's forces and rebels seeking a new democratic government. Sometimes violence is necessary when other options are no longer viable.

P.S. After this blog goes under, this will be the first post on the blog Andy and I will start: "The Blog of Integrity". Again, I offer my apologies. There's always another page!

Generation Kill

Dear Frederick, thank you for your nice letter, but I am actually a US Marine who was born to kill whereas clearly you have mistaken me for some sort of wine-sipping Communist dick-suck. And although peace probably appeals to tree-loving bisexuals like you and your parents, I happen to be a death-dealing, blood-crazed warrior who wakes up every day just hoping for the chance to dismember my enemies and defile their civilizations. Peace sucks a hairy asshole, Freddy. War is the motherfucking answer.

Cap

Haven't ever really drawn Cap. I think he's a more interesting character now than when he was created, what with America's... reputation being a little iffy of late.
Anyway, I'll color this up sometime. Was fun to do. Also i spent way to much time on the flag.

Vamp

My favorite vampire, Vamp of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4. Inspired by Yoji's recent work in Peace Walker. The splatter is supposed to represent Raidens blood.

Dracula dead and Loving It

Nosferatu

I had a pretty elaborate Bubba Nosferatu cover penciled, but I fucked it up in the inks due to a poor blueline print out.... so this is what you get. I'd like to think I'll eventually ink and finish Bubba, but I doubt it.
By far the creepiest vamp. Had a fun doing it. Done in Painter X.

Skinner Sweet

From American Vampire. Skinner Sweet is a bad ass, if he were part of a sketch blog it wouldn't have been this one, it would have been " The Bad Ass Zone". As that blog fell to the cold hand of apathy, Skinner would have risen from the ashes, because apathy can't kill vampires.

Ben Cortman

Ben Cortman of I Am Legend. One of my all-time favorite books and definitely my favorite vampire book.
I didn't think until after the fact that Ben is usually surrounded by other vampires and that Robert Neville probably didn't use a peephole.
Win some, lose some.

Vampirella

I don't really know much about Vampirella. I was just trying to branch out a little bit and do a character I haven't drawn before. Colors were real quick and might change them. Anyway, here you go.
