I know nothing of this character. But I had a lot of fun drawing this one...it's actually my second go...the other sketch I did was this weird upshot and he had a tiny head...but I thought it made him looks massive...but I made a oops when I was inking and ended up just writing profanity all over it. Then I thought...the only interesting part of Darkseid is his face...soooo...portrait style!

Sorry for being late this week. Working 2 jobs sucks. After this weekend I'm down to 1, so I should be better about deadlines.

I'm not familiar with this character outside of skimming through The Hunger Dogs. But he seemed to me like a more interesting Darth Vader type. I could be wrong though.

The Fourth World

Jack Kirby is King.  I think I prefer his DC work over his Marvel work.  Almost as soon as Craig picked the topic, I was on my way to the library to pick up "Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus" volumes 1-4.  It's great stuff that every Kirby fan should check out.  Anyway, I tried to do a classic-type cover with a little Kirby influence.  This piece is also more involved than my original idea.  I was going to have Darkseid vs Orion, but Kirby stole my layout. lol

I kind of shot myself in the foot, time-wise, with this one.

You never really see him with like some slave girls sitting on his lap. Darkseid should be pimping that shit. Maybe he's waiting until he defeats 'ol Supes first. Then he could wear his cape like a scarf or something as some sort of trophy. Also, you almost have to throw some Kirby Krackle in the mix when you draw this guy. It's like a requirement I think.

Final Crisis

The choice is simple.  Because, here, in the end, there's no choice at all.  Only Apokolips and Darkseid.  Forever.

Haven't read many stories with D-siz. Probably just Seven Soldiers and Cosmic Odyssey. Went with a pretty basic layout so I decided to bic pen this thing to make it a little different.
